When one evokes the independence of Brittany, the frequently asked question is this one: can a country of such reduced surface survive? Can it be economically viable?
It is easy for us to answer this question by another question. Are countries and nations of the size of Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Iceland... economically viable? If they are not, how come they do survive, some of them with standards of living which put their people, socially and individually, among the richest nations in the world?
Brittany has considerable natural resources, which people usually forget to mention: wealth of its grounds and of the surrounding seas, providing abundant natural goods. But Brittany also has other, far more important assets: the determination of the Breton people to undertake projects and succeed.
Should we forget to mention that Brittany is a European leader in the agricultural and agrofood fields?
Should we recall that Brittany, with its 2000 kilometers of coasts, is benefiting from an extraordinary wealth of potentialities? The sea offers many opportunities.
The situation of Brittany is in fact unique and if, with all these assets, Brittany could not survive on its own, this would really mean that the Bretons are worth nothing!
All things considered, there is no reason to believe that an independent Brittany would be too small to be economically viable. It is actually large and rich enough to produce what its people need.
With independence and subsequent freedom, Brittany will necessarily reach economic prosperity and social well being. Sovereignty, within Europe and in the Commonwealth of European Nations, will make empower the Breton people, who will manage to direct their economic life, a right with they do not enjoy to this day.
